Job Description
I am conducting research into the lived legal experiences of those who have been impacted by gambling harms and how gambling harms leads to encounters with laws and regulations.
I am seeking experts by experience who would be willing to participate in a 1-to-1 remote interview (either by Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or by phone) to share your expertise and lived experience specifically relating to how you have encountered laws and regulation as a result of either your gambling harms, or the gambling harms of a person you know.
Interviews will be audio recorded to ensure that I am getting an accurate record of the interview. All information supplied during the interview is confidential and will be retained for at least 10 years in accordance with University of Birmingham guidelines.Â
Interview topics include things such as:
- whether you knew about self-exclusion/tried to use it;
- whether you were ever contacted by staff in a gambling company about social responsibility concerns.
- Whether you interacted with security staff/police.
- Whether had any interaction with the courts and your experiences with the criminal justice system (eg. proceeds of crime act, sentencing, support for gambling harms in prison) etc.
These may be discussed amongst other potential subjects (eg. gambling advertising, online and crypto-gambling, loot boxes in gaming) etc.
Applications are welcome all the way through to the deadline.
