Please demonstrate (where appropriate) how your job meets the Minimum Standards Framework for the Lived Experienced users? Our involvement of the experts by experience (EBE’s) in this project meets the minimum standards in the following ways: Levels of engagement We are seeking to involve the EBE’s from the very beginning of this project. The level of involvement is appropriate for the scale of our project. We have specified the time commitment that would be required. Remuneration The amount of remuneration is consistent with the NIHR guidance. The format of remuneration (non-cash shopping vouchers) was specified in our funding bid and considered appropriate for this topic of research, consistent with guidance by GambleAware (Jay Levy, 2020). Support and training We will work with the EBE’s at the earliest opportunity to identify support needs. We will very much seek to utilise their skills and experience. Safeguarding and ongoing support We will discuss support needs with the EBE’s at the outset and connect them with a member of the research team who can provide support, if needed. We will also ensure check-ins take place around the research activities. Dissemination and credit The role of the LE expert(s) in dissemination of the research findings should be discussed and agreed at the earliest opportunity. Evaluation Throughout the project, in our milestone reports, we will include evaluation of the EBE involvement in the project. Language We will work with the EBE’s to use person-first language, to avoid using stigmatising and potentially triggering language in all study materials and we will include disclaimers where needed.
